According to a recent international report comparing spending, use of services, prices, and health in 13 developed countries in 2013:



  • the U.S spent an average of $9,086 per person on health care (the highest amount), with an average life expectancy of 78.8 years
  • Switzerland spent $6,325 per person on health care (the second-highest amount) and had a life expectancy of 82.9 years
  • the U.K. spent $2,802 per person on health care
