SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Coventry Health Care of Texas and Baptist Health System are working together to offer health insurance plans that meet the unique needs of local employers, their employees, individuals and families. Coventry’s health insurance plans provide customers with flexible and affordable benefit options, while Baptist doctors coordinate care through all stages of health and illness.
“As small businesses continue to struggle in this challenging economy, they find it even more difficult to offer their workers health insurance – which remains an important benefit that helps businesses retain great talent”
Coventry’s members can choose from more than 1,500 medical professionals in the Baptist network. The network also includes 230 primary care physicians, specialists and other providers. In addition, customers can take advantage of bilingual customer service and robust wellness programs.
“This program is a true partnership,” stated Graham Reeve, Baptist president and CEO. “Both Baptist and Coventry want to keep our community healthy. We both appreciate the value of quality health care. This collaboration is one way we can improve health care, and we are proud to offer our community a new and improved pathway to healthy living.”
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, in 2012 only 50 percent of businesses with three to nine employees offered health insurance coverage. And only 73 percent of businesses with 10 to 24 employees offered this benefit.
“As small businesses continue to struggle in this challenging economy, they find it even more difficult to offer their workers health insurance – which remains an important benefit that helps businesses retain great talent,” stated Coventry Senior Vice President Stewart Lavelle. “Our new benefit plans give individuals and small employers in and around San Antonio a new alternative for affordable health care coverage with access to an excellent health system.”
