Premiums Higher for Health Insurance Plans with Comprehensive Health Benefits

A new report from eHealth, Inc, shows that average monthly premiums for individual health insurance plans are forty-seven percent (47%) higher than average when they cover a comprehensive list of eight health benefits; Laboratory and X-Ray; Emergency Services; Prescription Drugs; Chiropractic; Maternity; OB/GYN; Periodic Exams; and Well Baby care. Average deductibles for plans that cover the same eight benefits are twenty-seven percent (27%) lower than the average for all plans.

When a plan covered all of the eight benefits:
·         Average Individual Premiums Increase: $279
·         Average Family Premiums Increase: $605
·         Average Individual Deductibles Decrease: $2,257
·         Average Family Deductibles Decrease: $3,422
