One-in-Four Consumers Will Receive Employer Health Benefits Through Insurance Exchanges in Five Years, Accenture Research Shows

By 2018, private exchange enrollment will surpass participation in state and federally funded public exchanges. While Accenture estimates that only one million individuals are expected to enroll in private exchanges by the end of 2013, that number is expected to reach 40 million individuals by 2018, surpassing the 31 million individuals likely to enroll in state-funded public exchanges.
