According to a recent survey of almost 900 employers:

  • 19% of respondents expect costs to rise by 5% or more due to the Affordable Care Act
  •  30% of respondents say they will require a bigger paycheck deduction for dependent coverage next year, and 13% will raise the contribution percentage for employee-only coverage
  • 23% of employers are unsure of how they will track and record the hours of employees who work variable hours, as is required by the new law
  • 32% of employers surveyed say they are considering offering a private exchange within two years and 47% are considering it within five years
  • Only 7% of large employers (those with 500 or more employees) plan to terminate their medical plans and send employees to the public health exchanges
