Quote of the Day

“The carriers have juiced up the commission on individual markets, at least in our state [of Michigan], to incent us to sell [on-exchange plans] because normally we aren’t going to go after one person. We are going to go after a group of 50 or a group of 100. Well, one of the carriers we have that was paying about 2% commission on individual plans is now paying us 14%. And we get the 14% on the subsidy too.”

— Shannon Enders, chartered benefit consultant for Lakeshore Employee Benefits in Muskegon, Mich., told AIS’s Health Plan Week.
