The Supreme Court is expected to rule next year on King v. Burwell


a lawsuit which challenges the federal government’s authority to provide financial assistance to those who buy health insurance in federally operated insurance exchanges. According to a recent analysis from the Congressional Budget Office, a decision for the plaintiffs would deny financial assistance for insurance premiums to about 13.4 million Americans in 2016, as shown below:

  • Florida: 2,545,469
  • Texas: 1,750,688
  • North Carolina: 926,023
  • Georgia: 784,381
  • Pennsylvania: 736,178
  • 32 other states: 6,660,150
