According to a recent report comparing access to health care in


Texas, Florida, California and New York:

  • The uninsured rate among working-age adults: 30% in Texas, 21% in Florida, 17% in California and 12% in New York
  • The percentage of insured adults who reported at least one problem getting needed care in the past 12 months: 36% in Texas, 39% in Florida, 28% in California and 27% in New York
  • The percentage who reported being contacted by a collection agency for unpaid medical bills in the past year: 21% in Texas, 17% in Florida, 9% in California and 11% in New York
