In 2014, Medicare spent $286 million

on 10,000 New York patients who took the Hepatitis C drug Sovaldi, which costs $84,000-per-patient annually. In 2013, Medicare spent $286 million nation-wide for earlier generation medications for Hepatitis C, according to federal data.
