According to a recent survey:

• Physicians in surgical specialties reported a median of $1,000 per day for on-call compensation
• Primary care physicians reported a median rate of $150 per day for on-call compensation.
• More than 35% of responding physicians reported receiving on-call compensation in the form of a daily stipend
• More than 12% reported an annual stipend for on-call coverage
• Only 7% of physicians reported compensation for on-call coverage in the form of an hourly stipend
