Advocates Ask Congress to Reauthorize the Older Americans Act

This week, the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO), a coalition of national advocacy groups including the Medicare Rights Center, sent letters to the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate advocating for the reauthorization of the Older Americans Act (OAA), which expired in 2011. Signed into law in 1965, the OAA provides older adults a way to access home-and –community based services that help them maintain their independence and remain in their communities.

Over 40 national organizations signed onto the LCAO letter, which encourages reauthorization of the OAA and alerts policymakers to  LCAO’s recommendations to strengthen and improve the OAA.
