Half of U.S. Adults Met Aerobic Physical Activity Guidelines in 2015


The CDC recently released estimates from the 2015 National Health Interview Survey. Here are some key findings on physical activity from the report:

·         21.1% of adults met the guidelines for both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities in 2015.

·         Half (49.5%) of U.S. adults met the 2008 federal physical activity guidelines for aerobic activity.

·         43.9% of Hispanic adults met the 2008 federal physical activity guidelines for aerobic activity.

·         Over half of non-Hispanic white adults (53.3%) met the guidelines aerobic activities.

·         44% of non-Hispanic black adults met the 2008 federal physical activity guidelines for aerobic activity.

·         At all age groups, women were less likely than men to meet the guidelines for aerobic activity.
