Red wine improves good cholesterol in diabetes patients

Researchers who looked at more than 220 type 2 diabetes patients following a Mediterranean diet found that those who drank red wine with dinner had higher levels of good cholesterol than those who drank white wine or mineral water. The findings, presented at the European Congress on Obesity, indicate that moderate wine drinking, especially red wine, "is apparently safe and decreases cardiometabolic risk," lead author Iris Shai said.
