Study links CVD risk, insulin resistance in postmenopausal women

Researchers looked at 15,288 postmenopausal women with no history of diabetes, atrial fibrillation or cardiovascular disease at baseline and found a higher prevalence of insulin resistance among younger black women with obesity. The study in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes also showed women with insulin resistance had a higher likelihood of having hypertension, higher glucose levels and lower physical activity, compared to those without insulin resistance.
