2% of Patients are Using Hospital-Provided Mobile Apps

Accenture recently conducted a study on healthcare app usage in the 100 largest US hospitals. Here are some key findings from the report:

·         Two-thirds (66%) of the 100 largest U.S. hospitals have mobile apps for consumers.

·         7% of patients have switched healthcare providers due to a poor experience with online customer service.

·         An estimated $100 million in annual revenue per hospital could be lost due to this pattern.

·         38% of hospitals with apps have developed proprietary apps for their patients.

·         1 in 50 patients in the largest U.S. hospitals are using a hospital-provided mobile health app.

·         11% of hospitals offer patients apps that operate with at least 1 of 3 functions that consumers demand most: access to medical records; the ability to book appointments; and the ability to request prescription refills.
