JAMA recently published research on obesity trends in American adults using data from 2005-2014. Here are some key findings from the report:

For 2013-2014, the
overall age-adjusted prevalence of obesity was 37.7%.

Among men, the obestiy
prevalence was 35%.
·
The prevalence of
obesity among women was 40.4%.
·
The prevalence of
class 3 obesity overall was 7.7%.
·
Among men, the
prevalence of class 3 obesity was 5.5% and among women, it was 9.9%.
·
For women, the
prevalence of obesity showed a significant linear trend between 2005 and 2014.
