"Opioids are in my mind the No. 1 cost driver in workers' compensation.


And that's because in workers' comp it's not just the cost of the drug that's the issue or the fact that people are taking these drugs and it leads to other medical conditions and other drugs they have to take. It's also in workers' comp we have to worry about getting those people functional again and getting them back to work because if you don't, you're paying their indemnity benefits forever. So it's a problem, [and] it's an exponentially larger problem in workers' comp than it is in the real world."
