The research journal Obesity recently published an analysis of obesity trends in children from 1999-2014. Here are some key findings from the report:

17.4% of children met
criteria for class I obesity (≥95th percentile) in 2014.
·
1 in 3 children age
2-19 were overweight in 2014.
·
6.3% of children met
criteria for class II obesity (≥120% of the 95th percentile).
·
Older children had
greater prevalence of all classes of obesity compared with younger children.
·
2.4% of children met
criteria for class III obesity (≥140% of the 95th percentile).
