Most Claims Were Submitted Electronically in 2014

The CAQH Index[R] recently released their annual report on electronic transactions in healthcare. Here are some key findings from the report:

·         93.8% of claims were submitted electronically in 2014.

·         In 2014 responding health plans reported over 120 million telephone transactions.

·         70.5% of eligibility and benefit verification occurred electronically in 2014.

·         The electronic adoption rate for prior authorization was 10.2% in 2014.

·         Half of remittance advice was conducted electronically in 2014.

·         The electronic adoption rate for referral certification was 6.2% in 2014.
