According to a recent analysis, healthcare costs

...for members of consumer-directed health plans (CDHPs) were between $457 and $532 per member per year lower than costs for privately-insured persons with traditional (non-CDHP) health plans; between 63% and 75% of the cost differential was driven by lower utilization rates.
