Half of Uninsured Americans Live in Southern States


The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recently released an analysis of uninsured Americans. Here are some key findings from the report:

·         67% of uninsured children are eligible for Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program.

·         1 in 5 (21%) uninsured adults is eligible for Medicaid.

·         3.8 million low-income people are ineligible for assistance in states that have not expanded Medicaid.

·         White non-Hispanics make up the largest share of the uninsured (46%).

·         White non-Hispanics have the lowest rate of being uninsured (9% are uninsured).

·         47% of the uninsured live in southern states.
