Slides from the “Assisting Consumers with Complex Situations” webinar, presented on March 30, are now posted to the Agents and Brokers Resources webpage.


The slides summarize tips presented by CMS subject matter experts on how you can help consumers manage their more complex health coverage situations, such as:

  • Determining if a consumer’s household is a multi-tax household and, if so, how to group family members for enrollment in qualified health plans (QHPs)
  • Enrolling family members for reasons of preference in different QHPs
  • Applying for, allocating, and reconciling advance payments of the premium tax credit in these complex situations
  • Making decisions when consumers have eligibility options (e.g., choice of QHP coverage or other coverage like Medicare, Medicaid, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program)
  • Transitioning from a QHP to other coverage

The slides also present a number of scenarios to show how this guidance is applied to help individual consumers and families, and provides links to relevant reference materials for more information.
