Here are some key findings from a recent report by AARP:

The share of Americans
ages 50-64 without health insurance fell from 11.6% in 2013 to 8% in 2014.
·
The insurance rate for
this age group increased by 2.2 million between Dec. 2013 and Dec. 2014.
·
In states that did not
expand Medicaid the uninsured rate dropped from 13.8% to 11%.
·
The uninsured rate in
27 states that expanded Medicaid dropped from 9.8% in 2013 to 5.5% in 2014.
·
The portion of
50-64-year olds on Medicaid rose from 6.5% to 10.8% in states that expanded
Medicaid.
·
Medicaid coverage for
50-64-year olds in nonexpansion states grew from 5.6% to 6.1%.
