According to a recent report, the range of retiree health savings targets...

... rose between 6%‒21% from 2014 to 2015. The savings required for a 50% chance of covering health care expenses in retirement would be:

  • $68,000 for a 65-year-old man
  • $89,000 for a 65-year-old woman

In order to have a 90% chance to cover health care expenses in retirement, the savings required would be:

  • $124,000 for the 65-year-old man
  • $140,000 for the 65-year-old woman
