Cigna recently conducted a national survey on oral health in pregnant women. Here are some key findings from the report:
·
43% of women don't go
for a dental checkup while expecting.
·
3 in 4 women have oral
health problems like bleeding gums or toothaches during pregnancy.
·
55% of women rate
their oral health as very good during pregnancy, a drop from 63% prepregnancy.
·
More than a third
(36%) of expectant mothers have not had a preventive dental visit in more than
a year.
·
4 in 5 women who have
participated in a dental benefit plan maternity program floss once a day.
·
63% of women whose
doctors discussed oral health have had a dental visit since giving birth.
