According to a recent survey, among non-pediatric primary care physicians:


  • 93% say they accept Medicare patients, 94% accept private insurance, and 67% accept Medicaid patients
  • Among those accepting new patients, 72% say they accept new Medicare patients, 80% accept new patients with private insurance, and 45% accept new Medicaid patients
  • 78% of those age 55 and older say they accept new patients, regardless of insurance
  • 83% of those under age 55 accept new patients, regardless of insurance
