Chronic Diseases Increase Fall Risk by up to 54%

Phillips recently conducted an analysis on the correlation between chronic conditions and falling risk. Here are some key findings from the report:

·         1 in 3 seniors fall each year in the United States.

·         Seniors with cognitive impairment fell 54% more often than their peers with no chronic conditions.

·         80% of the senior population has at least one chronic condition.

·         Seniors with 3 chronic conditions had 15% more falls that required hospital transport.

·         Falling risk was 42% higher for seniors with COPD.

·         Diabetic seniors fell 30% more often than those with no chronic conditions.
