Kaiser Family Foundation recently conducted a survey regarding 2015 Medicaid enrollment and spending. Here are some key findings from the report:
·
The 29 states
expanding Medicaid in 2015 reported 3x the enrollment growth seen in
non-expansion states.
·
Enrollment rose 18%
and total spending rose 17.7% in expansion states.
·
In non-expansion
states, enrollment and total Medicaid spending grew an average of 5.1% and
6.1%.
·
State Medicaid
spending growth in expansion states (3.4%) was lower than in non-expansion
states (6.9%).
·
Two-thirds of
expansion states reported that costs for the expansion population were at/below
projections.
·
17 expansion states
reported that enrollment initially increased faster than expected.
