Health Affairs recently published an article on Electronic Health Record adoption trends in U.S. hospitals. Here are some key findings from the report:

By 2014, 75% of U.S.
hospitals had adopted an EHR system.
·
59% of hosptials used
an EHR system in 2013.
·
2 in 5 hospitals had
the ability to meet core stage 2 meaningful-use criteria in 2014.
·
5.8% had the ability
to meet core stage 2 meaningful-use criteria in 2013.
·
Between 2013 and 2014
comprehensive EHR adoption rates increased from 25.5% to 34.1%.
·
61% of hospitals
without at least a basic EHR system did not have a physician notes function in
place.
