According to a recent analysis,

... hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) decreased 17% from 2010 to 2013, resulting in:

  • 1.3 million fewer incidents of patient harm
  • about 50,000 fewer patient deaths in hospitals
  • $12 billion in health care cost savings
