The CDC recently released a study on cholesterol-lowering medication use. Here are some key findings from the report:
·
78.1 million Americans
were already taking or are eligible for cholesterol-lowering medication.
·
35.5% of this group
are not taking medication or making lifestyle changes.
·
Of the 2 in 5 men
eligible for medication, 52.9% were taking medications.
·
Of the 32.9% of women
eligible for medication, 58.6% were taking medications.
·
Blacks who did not
have a routine place for health care had the lowest rate (5.7%) of taking medication.
·
Nearly 90% of those
receiving medication were taking a statin drug.
