According to a recent report, preliminary estimates for 2014 indicated that, from 2010 to 2014:


  • Hospital-acquired conditions declined 17%
  • Hospital patients experienced 2.1 million fewer hospital-acquired conditions
  • As a result, about 87,000 fewer patients died in the hospital
  • Almost $20 billion in health care costs were saved
