On August 6, 2015, Section 1866(a)(1) of the Social Security Act was
amended by Congress to require hospitals and critical access hospitals to
provide notification to Medicare beneficiaries receiving observation services
as outpatients for more than 24 hours at such hospitals and critical access
hospitals.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting a
TeleTown Hall meeting to solicit input regarding CMS’s implementation of the
Notice of Observation Treatment and Implication for Care Eligibility Act
(NOTICE Act) requirements. Participants are asked to come prepared to
share comments and/or concerns. All viewpoints are welcome and will be
taken into consideration as we work through implementation of the NOTICE Act.
