"I work with this client a lot, and they have a great compliance program.

... They do tons of training. I don't know what happened [when an assistant U.S. attorney questioned hospital employees in connection with a billing investigation and they were caught off guard and said they hadn't been trained on the subject at hand]. It was a deer-in-the-headlights thing. I couldn't understand why they were unable to articulate what training they had, but they were suddenly inarticulate. You could see the assistant U.S. attorney's confidence in that organization fall."

— David Glaser, an attorney with Fredrickson & Byron, told AIS's Report on Medicare Compliance for a story on the importance of preparing employees for visits from government enforcers.
