IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics recently released a study on type 2 diabetes therapy adherance. Here are some key findings from the report:

400,000 American
seniors are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (T2D) every year.
·
In the U.S., it is
estimated that 27% of people 65 and older have diabetes.
·
17.2 million seniors
are expected to live with T2D by 2025.
·
Death rates from all
causes are 1.5x higher among diabetic adults than adults without diabetes.
·
27,180 seniors had a
leg amputation as a result of their diabetes in 2010.
·
In 2010, 1.7 million
U.S. seniors had visual impairment due to diabetes.
